Our Founder
ANDY FOSTER
Andy founded Foster Fitness in 2017. He had a vision to create a community where everyone feels welcome to come and get fit and feel healthy.
In 2023 Andy tragically got the news of a cancer diagnosis in the form of a brain tumour, and after a year long battle with the disease he passed away surrounded with the love and support he built over the years.
Andy always knew that for some showing up is the hardest part. He created Foster Fitness to allow the guess work to be taken out of the equation. He strived to provide support to members, which is the reason he introduced only small group classes.
Andy changed the lives of so many of those around him and his legacy continues through the gym. The members started their journey through Andy’s inspiration and continue to honour him by ensuring they continue on their fitness journey
THE NEXT CHAPTERS
TINA LAUSZUS
Tina came to Foster Fitness in 2023, in an effort to relieve Andy of some work to allow him time to recover from treatment. She took over the gym early in 2024 and Andy passed knowing his community was safe in her hands. Tina put her own wonderful stamp on the gym, keeping us all together. In mid 2025 Tina announced she was following her dreams and embarked on travel adventures, passing the gym onto…
BECKY AND IAN BLAKE
Becky and Ian took management of the gym in September, 2025. Becky is an renowned entertainer, celebrant and children’s mentor and has been a member of Foster Fitness since 2022. Although she’d recently kept fit with running marathons and hot yoga, Andy reignited Becky’s love of being strong and she felt her strength build through lifting weights in his classes.
Becky was devastated with Andy’s passing and when Tina decided to move on, made the commitment to continue his legacy together with her husband Ian. Ian is also an entertainer and music teacher and a long time member of the Boxing Room, which unfortunately closed its doors mid 2025. Ian brought to Foster Fitness the love of boxing training, which we are now implementing along with Bruce, who has many decades of experience in fitness training. Together with Ellen, who brings her own amazing energy as group instructor and also as personal trainer, we make a really great team!
Becky and Ian’s ethos is that anyone can achieve their fitness goals in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. Everyone is accepted and welcomed. The trickiest thing is taking the first step!
At Foster Fitness we continue Andy’s legacy of creating a fun and casual environment and to work with your strengths and limitations towards your fitness goals. There’s a sign on the wall at Foster Fitness that survives Andy: I didn’t come this far to only come this far. And we didn’t.
“One day or Day one?.”
